Step Out of Your Comfort Zone—As a Client!

Hearing the phrase "Step out of your comfort zone" has become common; we hear it in many ways and in different contexts. But when it comes to your business, it’s a real issue. To begin with, there are models or practices in your company that simply don’t deliver the results you expected. It’s not that you’re not trying or being consistent it just doesn’t work. You know what? I completely understand because, over time, making decisions becomes harder, especially when you have an investment to protect, payroll to cover, clients, products, and your brand to manage… There are many factors that make us think we can’t experiment more because there’s so much at stake.

But frustration and fear take over when things don’t go as expected. That’s why we seek help to strengthen the areas where we know we can do something different. And that’s when the real challenge arises, as a client.

Sometimes, we hire agencies or external professionals to handle what we don’t know how to do or can’t execute due to various factors. However, we often become clients who refuse to let go of control over what the experts (whom we hired for a reason) do best. I get it, as clients, we tend to be controlling because we don’t fully understand that trust is a crucial factor in breaking out of that “comfort zone” or the mindset of “This is how we’ve always done it.”

 Observe and learn. I’ve always believed that there’s no better starting point for an action plan than the input from the company’s director and its customers. The executive analyzes everything that can be improved operationally, while the customer confirms what the executive thinks but doesn’t execute.You can have a great place, but if you don’t fulfill the brand’s promise in any aspect, the quality-price relationship breaks.

Hire experts in the areas you want to improve, but LET THEM WORK, even if what they propose seems “CRAZY.” They see what you don’t, which is why it’s crucial to hire “partners” who are the best at what they do, with experience and proven results.
